In 2019, Shawn Walbecq joined Pathfinder as our 2nd Grade Classroom teacher. Then Shawn spent the past year, serving as the principal of Havasupai Elementary School, at the base of the Grand Canyon in Supai, AZ. Shawn and his wife own a farm in the Grand Traverse Area and he is excited to be back with Pathfinder for the 2021-2022 School Year as part of the Administration team overseeing faculty growth, learning, and support.
Shawn comes to us with a vast amount of knowledge and experience. He graduated from Hope College with a Bachelor Dual-Degree in Geology and English. He attained his teacher certification at Spring Arbor University and then went on to get a Masters in Elementary Reading and Literacy and a second Masters in Education Administration. Shawn's teaching experiences include K-8 Language Arts Title One, multiple overseas teaching positions in Abu Dhabi, UAE, 5th Grade at the American International School of Guatemala, Educational Specialist for the Bureau of Indian Education in Utah, Suttons Bay Schools Principal.
