Tom Kain moved to Alaska in 2000 by acquiring a job as a sea kayak guide. This stimulated years of seasonal work including spending the winter months on the slopes of Alyeska Resort working as a ski patroller. As time passed, a transition occurred, and Tom began working with National Forest and State Parks doing trail /cabin maintenance in the summers and residential construction in the winters. Tom's passion for outdoor recreation and his interest in forest management lead him to acquire a Park Ranger position with the Alaska State Parks. At this same point in time, another transition occurred and Tom became a father to his son Eli. In 2015, Tom returned to Michigan to raise his family in Traverse City which is a short distance from his parents. Tom continued building residential homes year round and acquired his Residential Builders License in 2018. In the fall of 2019, Tom joined The Pathfinder School as the Campus Maintenance Director.
