What is Middle School Discovery Day?

Middle School Discovery Day is a warm, low-pressure opportunity for fifth graders to explore what middle school at Pathfinder truly feels like. Students will spend the day immersed in the Pathfinder experience learning alongside current middle schoolers, exploring the school’s magical 22-acre campus, and discovering that middle school at Pathfinder is unlike any other. This experience is about discovering the possibilities at Pathfinder where students are known, belong, and grow into confident and grounded versions of themselves ready to flourish in high school.

β€œOur teacher meets you where you’re at, and you don’t feel judged asking questions.”
— Current 8th Grader

Why Middle At Pathfinder?

Middle school is a pivotal moment β€” academically, socially, and emotionally. At Pathfinder, students experience:

  • Small classes and close relationships with teachers

  • Meaningful academic challenge balanced with care

  • Learning grounded in the natural world and the seasons

  • Opportunities for leadership, voice, and responsibility

  • A community where students are truly known

Middle school here feels like a natural next step β€” not a leap.

β€œPathfinder is a meadow β€” a place where students are encouraged to explore questions deeply, seek feedback, and build skills in an academically sound environment.”
— Teague, World Language Teacher

For Families

While students are immersed in their day, families are invited to:

  • Join a guided campus walk-and-talk

  • Hear from current Pathfinder parents

  • Connect with school leadership

  • Reunite with students at the end of the day for pickup and informal conversation

We know that choosing a middle school is as much about trust as it is about academics. Discovery Day is designed to offer families both.
