The Pathfinder School: Traverse City Community School

Summer Camp 2020 Canceled

We hope you and your family are holding up during this unprecedented time. While our school and camp staff can’t imagine a summer without children jumping off the dock, playing in the woods, or shooting archery in the gym, we have spent the last couple of weeks considering every angle of what is safe and possible on our campus.

Over the past month our staff has participated in multiple state and national planning meetings, read information from the American Camping Association, reviewed the current CDC guidelines, met with licensing specialists, and had brainstorming sessions, to try to ensure we were making the best decision. All the while, we were keenly aware of our responsibility to protect and safeguard the health and safety of our campers, counselors, and staff.

There is continuous uncertainty surrounding the feasibility of hosting a quality experiential program in the current environment. We have come to the hard decision that we cannot host the Pathfinder Camp we all know and love, while also maintaining all of the safety protocols that we anticipate will be required by the state. This summer we will not be hosting our joyous camp program.

Over the next two weeks, camp refunds will be automatically processed for all participants. You will receive a check refund of all paid camp fees in the mail.

However, If you are in a position to do so, we ask you to consider making a donation of a portion of your fees, such as the deposit, to support a future for The Pathfinder Summer Camp. Pathfinder’s camp and school programs have served children in the Grand Traverse region for 48 years, and we want to continue that legacy of rich programming and nurturing experiences. Because we are a non-profit organization, we rely on stewardship to support our mission, and we hope you agree that our summer camp is worth preserving. All donations are tax deductible. To choose this option, please click the button below to communicate your wishes. We are grateful for any and all donations.

Although we are regretfully letting go of camp this summer, once we have more information from the State, we are determined to find a way to welcome you to campus. Additionally, we hope to see all of your smiling faces in person next year!
