WELCOME LETTER from Camp Director - Shannon Grossman

Welcome Campers and Families,

Summer is almost HERE! We are so happy you have chosen The Pathfinder School’s Summer Camp for your child's summer camp adventure! This letter outlines our weekly schedule, and provides you with a link to important online camp paperwork that needs to be completed prior to  your child’s first day, a packing list of essential items your child will need to bring to camp, and other information.

  • Camp registration is on Monday of each week and begins at 9:00 am in front of the Administration Building (Lower Campus). Please feel free to arrive a bit early, but no earlier than 8:30am. Camp will then continue from 9:30am-4pm

  • Camp runs each week Monday-Friday from 9am – 4pm

  • For half day campers, the day ends at 12:00pm. Pick up is at the Lower Campus Pick Up Pavilion.

  • For full day campers, the day ends at 4:00pm. Pick up is on the Lower Campus at the Pick Up Pavilion

  • Each Friday at 3:30pm, we ask that parents/guardians join us in the Upper Campus Memorial Garden for a “Friday Share.”  Campers will share their experiences from the week!  Please park in the lower campus parking lot and walk up the stairs to collect your campers.

  • Pre-Camp Care is from 7:30am-9am. Please drop your campers off at the Camp Office (next to the basketball hoop-Lower Campus). Please confirm days that you will need pre-camp care with Camp Director Shannon Grossman.

  • Extended Day runs from 4pm-5:30pm (Mon-Thurs).  There is no after camp care on Fridays. Campers are to be checked out at the Camp Office (next to basketball hoop – Lower Campus).  You will be charged at the end of the summer (August) and billed for the time that you used the Extended Day Program.

  • Week 7 Campers: Week 7 is themed “The Magic of Camp” Camp staff will wear costumes related to the week’s theme on Monday morning (August 7th) and campers are welcome to come in costume as well!

For your convenience, we have created an online portal through which you can complete your required camp paperwork.  Visit the site listed below:

OR  go to Pathfinder Website > Summer > 2017 Camp Paperwork

  1. Please fill out one form PER CHILD. We will need health info on each camper thus separate forms.

  2. We will provide you with a hard copy of your answers upon arrival and will ask for your signature.

  3. Would you prefer a paper packet? Contact Shannon for a hard copy to be mailed to your home.

  4. We ask for immunization records and/or waivers on file while your child is with us at camp. You can either bring in copies to the Main Office or have your pediatrician fax our office with paperwork at: 231.995.3850

  5. If your child is a current student at Pathfinder, please connect with the Main Office to see if paperwork in their CA60 may be used.

What to Pack in your Child’s Daypack:

Please read carefully and make sure to have all the following items daily. We really appreciate your attention to this list. Please put your child(ren)’s name on their belongings.

  • Small day pack/ backpack in which all the following items fit :

  • Healthy, packed lunch (note – please no food that needs to be heated or prepared at camp)

    • We will provide an afternoon snack, though extra snacks are a good idea

  • Water bottle filled

  • Swim suit/trunks

  • Towel

  • Comfortable shoe to be worn – gym shoes recommended (hiking sandal or hiking boot will do)

  • Life jacket (All Young Explorers, Explorers, and Discovery Campers are required to wear lifejackets. Adventure Campers will be given a swim test on Mondays to be exempt from this rule.) All campers are required to wear life jackets when canoeing.

  • Rain coat (if needed)

  • SunBlock – please make sure to apply sunblock to your child each morning and label the bottle that you send with them. Counselors will help re-apply before Free Swim.

  • Insect Repellent – please also label the bottle

  1. Wear clothing that can & will get dirty.

  2. Make sure to have camper’s name clearly written on all personal items!! (sun block, life jacket, towels, shoes, etc). This is important to make sure all of your items return home with you, plus keeps our valued attention with your camper and not on their gear.

Each day, campers head down to Cedar Lake for free swim, face painting and beach fun on our sandy shoreline.  Our waterfront on Cedar Lake is supervised by certified lifeguards at all times.

Adventure campers who have swimming experience will be allowed to take a swim test on Mondays. If they pass, they are able to swim without a life jacket in the deep swimming area. All other campers must wear life jackets when at the waterfront. Campers are able to leave their swim gear in the boathouse for the duration of the week, to go home with them on Friday.  If your camper needs their swim gear for evening fun, it is their responsibility to take it home!

Please join us at the end of camp for our ALL CAMP POTLUCK. Whether you had campers with us for one week or seven, we would love to see you there! *If you do not plan to attend the potluck and your child is enrolled in Week 7, please pick your camper up at 2pm this day*
