Hannah Stone '05
Hannah Stone graduated from The Pathfinder School in 2005. After her time there, she attended Traverse City West High School, where she found the path to her passion and life’s work: classical music. She found great success in the choral program and stage musicals at TC West. Hannah began taking voice lessons with local opera singer and voice teacher Jayne Sleder, who led her to the finals of state- and nation-wide voice competitions and inspired her to audition for collegiate voice programs.
In the fall of 2009, Hannah began her studies at Michigan State University. After only two semesters, she was cast in her first leading opera role. In the following years of her undergraduate study, Hannah sang another leading opera role; countless solos with the Lansing Symphony, MSU Chorale and orchestras, and Greater Lansing Arts Chorale; and planned, programmed, and performed three solo recitals. In her final year, she was the only undergraduate voice student chosen as a finalist in the MSU Concerto competition and won first place in the Kalamazoo Bach Festival Young Vocalists Competition. This summer she participated in the highly acclaimed Westminster CoOPERAtive voice intensive.
Now, this alumna of Pathfinder and MSU is preparing for her first professional opera engagement. This fall, she will appear as an Apprentice Artist at the Sarasota Opera in Sarasota, Florida. Hannah will perform in the opera Die Fledermaus, as well as two opera scenes concert showcases.
