Hannah McCarthy Stone
Hannah graduated from Pathfinder in 2005 and went on to spend a year at Interlochen Arts Academy before transferring to Traverse City West Senior High School, where she excelled academically (including completing five years of French studies). She was involved in social justice clubs, musical theatre, and choral singing. Hannah played the lead in The Secret Garden, was a member of several audition-only choirs (such as the a cappella group Choral Aires), and served as President of the choir, while also taking private voice lessons.
She is currently pursuing a degree in Vocal Performance at Michigan State University, where she played the lead in Mozart’s opera La Finta Giardiniera and was a soloist with the Lansing Symphony Orchestra.
She works as a paid section leader in two East Lansing adult choirs. In the fall of 2011, she travelled to China with other MSU students, where she sang an aria in the Olympic Stadium, and then played the lead in Pirates of Penzance. She aspires to a career in professional opera performance as a lyric coloratura soprano, and is grateful to Ms. Tobin for a solid foundation in music.
