Music

Joining the instrumental program at our school opens up a world of opportunities for students! Our Instrumental Music Programs, directed by master teachers whose recognition for professional performance and pure love of music set them apart, offer children an exciting introduction to the wonderful worlds of strings and percussion.

There are few experiences as satisfying as being a member of a performing ensemble and sharing a love of music with others. Through ensemble membership you will learn teamwork and cooperation as well as how to be flexible and think on your feet. You will have the experience of perfecting a performance over a period of time and learn to appreciate hard work and high achievement. And, even if you do not plan to become a professional musician, your musical studies will help you gain confidence and become comfortable in front of people. These are life skills, not just musical skills

  • Beginning String Class, directed by Lynne Tobin, allows YOU to choose the instrument you’d like to play! Group instruction is offered on violin, viola, cello and bass. This class, which is open to students in grades 4 - 8, meets 3 times each week on Monday, Wednesday and Friday.

  • String Ensemble, directed by Lynne Tobin, is an orchestra class for students with one year or more of instruction and experience on violin, viola, cello or bass meets. Students in this ensemble are in grades 5 - 8, although younger students with playing experience may audition to join. String Ensemble meets two times weekly on Tuesday and Thursday.
