Recent studies suggest that children thrive when given the opportunity to engage with the natural world. Pathfinder students are outside everyday, and the school’s exquisite twenty-two acre campus is an integral part of their school experience. Children play outside, study outside, investigate lakeshore ecology and create nature-based art. Along with using the campus as an extension of the classroom, Pathfinder students are active stewards of their environment by recycling, composting, gardening and taking ownership of their school. In addition, we offer formal Outdoor Education as an elective for sixth grade through eighth grade. This elective builds outdoor leadership skills by incorporating team building initiatives, wilderness camping, water skills, hiking and a host of other fun activities.
