The Pathfinder School: Traverse City Community School

Sally Gorenflo

5th Grade Teacher

Sally, known as “Mrs. G.,” teaches fifth and sixth graders at Pathfinder. Prior to joining our faculty in 1998, she taught various age groups from kindergarten through college, and was an adjunct instructor with Northwestern Michigan College in Traverse City, teaching English Composition as well as reading and learning courses. In addition to her regular classroom teaching, Sally is an Orton-Gillingham tutor, working with numerous children to improve literacy skills.

Paint brushes and pens come out in the summer and Sally’s artwork can be found in area galleries, on the cover of the 2011-2012 Family Directory, and annually at PathFUNDer.

When she first moved to the Leelanau Peninsula, in addition to teaching, she and her husband owned and operated a bed and breakfast in Glen Arbor. They have since moved farther into the woods near Empire, where they enjoy peaceful living with their naughty dog, William the Terrier.
