The Pathfinder School: Traverse City Community School

Dawn Iott

Elementary School Science Teacher

Dawn joined Pathfinder in 1992 and has taught elementary science and middle school logic over the years. In earlier days, Dawn worked as a scientist for eight years at a corporate research and engineering lab in the fields of materials and metallurgy. She was one of the founding "Community of Learners" for the Great Lakes Water Studies Institute and is a charter member of "Women of the Water". While teaching, Dawn remains excited about engaging children in new quests for understanding.

Dawn is a proud mother of two children who graduated from Pathfinder: Jesse '96 (Kenyon College, '04 and University of Toronto, '05) and Alice Rose '99 (Kalamazoo College, '07). She is also the starry-eyed grandmother of twins Jamie and Gibson. Dawn lives on the family potato farm in Kalkaska with her husband Dennis and enjoys fly-fishing, kayaking, biking, skiing and snowshoeing.
